Called to Serve: Discover Your Vocation

WELCOME!
New Vocation Ministry at Saint Mark Parish

We are excited to introduce the newly formed Vocation Ministry at Saint Mark the Evangelist Parish! This initiative is devoted to nurturing a culture of discernment, encouragement, and prayer for all vocations — including the priesthood, permanent diaconate, religious life, marriage, and single life.
Each week, you’ll find updates in the bulletin highlighting upcoming events, prayer opportunities, and practical ways you can support vocations within our parish community. Let us walk together in helping hearts respond to God’s call.

Lord, guide our hearts to hear your call.

Faith Formation Vocation Week Plans - November 2nd and 9th
November 2nd is the start of National Vocation Awareness Week! Faith Formation classes at both Holy Sepulcher and Saint Kilian have a few things in store for students to bring more understanding to (and focus on) vocations. Students who will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation this Spring have an entire lesson devoted to the universal call to holiness through the vocations of religious life, the ordained, marriage, and single consecrated life. All classes will have grade-appropriate prayers with which they will open and close classes on the first two Sundays of November. All families will receive a tri-fold flyer that they can fold, tape, and display wherever their family gathers for meals that provides various prompts to open discussion between parents and children regarding how God might be calling them!

Vocations

Priesthood

Called to sacramental leadership and pastoral care for the parish and wider Church.

The Priests lead Eucharist, preach God’s Word, and shepherd God’s people through the sacraments and daily ministry.

Diaconate

A ministry of service, charity, and sacramental assistance.

Deacons serve in parish outreach, baptisms, marriages, and by supporting the poor and marginalized.

Religious Life

Consecrated life lived in community through vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience.

Sisters and brothers give themselves to prayer, community life, and ministries like education, healthcare, and social service.

Married Life

The vocation to build a domestic church through marriage and family life.

Married couples witness God’s covenant love, form children in faith, and serve the parish through hospitality and stewardship.

Single Life

A life of availability for service, prayer, and mission in many forms.

The single vocation can be lived with deep holiness through lay ministry, volunteer service, and wholehearted devotion to God and neighbor.

Prayer for Vocations

God our Father,
We thank You for calling men and women to serve in your Son's Kingdom — as priests, deacons, consecrated religious, faithful spouses, and dedicated single persons. Send Your Holy Spirit to inspire others to respond generously and courageously to Your call, wherever it may lead.
May our community of faith nurture and support vocations of sacrificial love, especially among our youth and young adults. We ask this through Christ Our Lord. Amen.
