Adult entrance into the Catholic Church takes place through the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA). The program involves instruction on the practices and beliefs of the Church and the application of the Catholic faith in today’s world.
For adults, the usual way to become a member of the Catholic Church is through The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA). OCIA is a gradual process of education, formation, and discernment. Whether unbaptized or baptized in another Christian denomination, the OCIA program helps adults grow in their relationship with God.
Sessions focus on the teachings and practices of the Catholic faith, as well as the value and application of faith in daily life. Becoming Catholic is a four-step journey, guiding you through phases of discernment and deeper conversion. Each person is accompanied by a sponsor— chosen by the individual or provided by the parish—who offers support and attends weekly sessions.

OCIA begins in the Fall and continues through the Easter Vigil. Classes are held at the Saint Kilian Campus on Monday evenings at 6:30 PM in the lower level of the church. Sessions last about one hour. Occasionally, participants attend the 10:00 AM Mass for special Rites celebrated with the parish community.
Each week includes discussion of the upcoming Sunday Scripture readings and a presentation on Catholic doctrine, beliefs, or practices. The setting is informal and encourages dialogue and questions.
Presentations are led by the OCIA team—dedicated parishioners, including former candidates. Small class sizes create a personal atmosphere for growing in faith. Prayer is central to the journey.
