Proclaiming the Word of God to the Congregation
As a minister of the Word, you bring forth the Word of God to the congregation. Lectors are needed for every Mass and other liturgical celebrations. Confirmed Catholics over the age of 16 are eligible to participate in this ministry.

Walk directly behind the altar servers. Carry the Book of Gospels chest-high.
Proceed to the pulpit when the congregation sits after the Opening Prayer.

After the Profession of Faith, move to the pulpit. Provide the response to the people, then read each petition.
*If a Deacon is assisting, he will handle the Intercessions.
Join the servers when the final hymn begins. Do not carry the Lectionary out. Mimic the priest’s bow/genuflect and process out.
