Forward in Faith and Hope
Fellow parishioner Chris Marsico shares why a year-end gift is one of the most meaningful ways to support our parish and the future of Saint Mark the Evangelist.
As the year draws to a close, gifts of cash, stock, or an IRA Qualified Charitable Distribution can help build a place where our parish family will gather, grow in faith, and serve our community for generations to come.
Forward in Faith and Hope
Thank you to everyone who has already given. Your generosity helps our parish grow in faith and serve our community for generations. If you are considering a gift before the year ends, here are several ways to give.
Find what fits you
Not every option applies to everyone. Find the one that fits you, and talk with your financial or tax professional.
Ask your IRA custodian to send your gift directly to Saint Mark Parish, up to $111,000 per person in 2026. It is not counted as taxable income, and at 73 or older it may count toward your RMD.
Transfer shares directly to the parish. You may avoid capital-gains tax on the growth in value. Contact Greg Callaghan for transfer instructions.
Combine several years of giving into one tax year so your gifts may exceed the standard deduction and be itemized.
Cash gifts to charity may now be deductible: up to $1,000, or $2,000 for married couples filing jointly.
Recommend a grant to Saint Mark the Evangelist Parish. Ask your DAF sponsor whether it may be used toward a pledge.
Give online using the ways to give on this page, or make checks payable to Saint Mark the Evangelist Parish with “Forward in Faith and Hope” in the memo.
Step by step
Pick the option that fits you and talk with your financial or tax professional.
For an IRA gift, stock or a donor-advised fund, contact your custodian, broker or fund sponsor early. These gifts can take weeks.
Give online using this page, or mail a check payable to Saint Mark the Evangelist Parish with “Forward in Faith and Hope” in the memo.
Complete your gift by December 31 for it to count toward 2026.
Questions
Gifts must be completed by December 31, 2026 to count for 2026. Online gifts and checks mailed by December 31 generally count for 2026.
IRA, stock and donor-advised fund gifts can take several weeks to process, so we suggest starting by early December.
If you are age 70½ or older, you can make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) by asking your IRA custodian to send a gift directly to Saint Mark Parish, up to $111,000 per person in 2026.
A QCD is not counted as taxable income, and if you are 73 or older it may count toward your required minimum distribution (RMD). The gift must go directly from your custodian to the parish to qualify.
Stock you have held for more than one year can be transferred directly to the parish, and you may avoid capital-gains tax on its growth in value.
Contact Greg Callaghan at 724-625-1665 x2105 for the parish’s transfer instructions, then ask your broker to make the transfer. Please start early, since transfers can take several weeks.
